12 Hour Communication

Greetings 12 hour racers and volunteers!!

Thank you for registering for The East Fork Challenge, we are excited to get you out at East Fork State Park for 12 hours of racing!  We have a good course out there for you!  Please make sure that all teammates receive this email, we are missing a few emails.

Schedule of Events:

Race check in/gear staging:       5:00 am to 6:30 am

Pre-race meeting:                     6:30 am

Race Start:                               7:00 am

Race Finish:                              7:00 pm

The race will start and finish at the shelter above the swimming beach area.  There is plenty of parking at the shelter lot, please do not park on the grass.  You will stage your boats and paddle gear at the West end of the beach area before the start of the race.  Bikes will need to be loaded into a Uhaul truck located at racer checkin by 6:30am.  Teams may bring one trashbag per team, clearly labeled with your team name.  You may place any bike related gear, food, drink, or any other non-mandatory gear in this bag to be transported with your bikes.  We will have water available at transition areas.  If you rented a boat for the race, it will already be down at the beach.  If you want to use your own pfd and/or paddles instead of the rentals you are welcome to do so; racers will not have to carry paddle related gear on any legs other than the paddleing.

Do not forget the visible orange, it is hunting season at the park during the race!

We will make a decision on maps after this weekend.  Scale of the maps will be 1:24000.  We may go with our own topo maps with checkpoints pre-marked, or we may go with mytopo maps and you will have to plot utm's.  For now, be prepared to plot utm's throughout the race and if things change we will let you know.  Maps and further instructions will be handed out at the pre-race meeting at 6:30 am.

The race will end at 7:00pm and a post race pizza meal and awards ceremony will occur after the race.
